Some of my work using Ecoline Liquid Watercolour - Doranne Alden Caruana

A selection of various media which I have begun to introduce to mixing
along with Ecoline Liquid Watercolours
Ecoline Liquid Watercolours by Talens
Teaching art to my students is something
I have come to enjoy so much

Before I get started I would like to share a few of my paintings which I worked on recently. They are all in Ecoline Liquid Watercolours and painted either from still life subjects which I set up at home or from the photographs I took of the still life from a different angle. I should point out that I usually also photograph these set ups to check on the values and balance of the colours also for composition and lighting.

Here are the first instalments of photographed still life set ups and the resulting paintings.

Maltese Tomatoes is a painting that came about because I was dared to paint 'more
difficult and challenging tomatoes than their EU counterparts'. This painting eventually got published in the portfolio
section of 'Artists & Illustrator's Magazine' last October 2012.

Set up in my dining room I have come to
appreciate back lighting for a subject
more than overhead lighting to
create a strong contrast while
painting.

About Ecoline Liquid Watercolours by Doranne Alden Caruana

Ecoline Liquid Watercolour is a medium which at first attempt may seem impossible to master, and perhaps could lead even a well versed artist into deciding to never try ecoline watercolours again. - But given some proper guidance and a bit of practice this medium could also become a source of inspiration which catches hold of your imagination and become a long life passion.

In my case of course ecolines have been and are a long life passion for me. Over the years ecoline liquid watercolours have become a way of expressing my varying moods, emotions and also a way to share my message of 'Positive Colour'. I have been painting professionally for over 38 years. Although I have worked in the Art World for so many years I only started exhibiting my work around 20 years ago. My adventure with ecolines began while working in advertising in the 1980s. I was a senior designer back then and had a friend working with me as a trainee. She was fortunate enough to be the daughter of the importer of Talens products and so brought along a box one day to show me this wonderful new medium which I took to immediately - it was love at brush stroke for me and these colours have been my main source of artistic and design expression ever since. When ever asked about my vibrant colours I have always felt safe enough to give the name as hardly anyone knows of them - but over the last years I have seen an increase in their use especially for cartoons and comic work. Still I find that they still relatively unexplored when it comes to painting and so I shall over the coming months be slowly revealing my method of painting with Ecoline Liquid Watercolours.
